April 11, 2025: Symposium on safeguarding journalists investigating tech
by Dr. Piyush Mathur
As part of the International Journalism Festival (April 9-13, 2025) being held in Perugia, Italy, there will be a symposium on April 11, a Friday, on how to safeguard investigative journalists reporting on the global technology sector. The symposium will focus on all forms of insecurities being faced by journalists investigating any aspect of the technology sector—and what could be done to minimize those insecurities.
Titled ‘When removing bylines isn’t enough: how can journalists safely investigate tech in 2025?’ the symposium (a free event) will take place from 14:00 to 14:50 Central European Time (CET) on April 11, at Sala Brugnoli, Palazzo Cesaroni. The event will be moderated by Alexandra Buccianti, Luminate’s Principal of Global Programmes; it shall have Carlos Gaio, Karen Hao, and 'Fisayo Soyombo as the speakers.
