For French-knowing journalists worldwide, a May 5, 2025 deadline: ‘Media & Information Literacy Residency’ in Dunkirk, France

The Urban Community of Dunkirk (Communauté Urbaine de Dunkerque), in partnership with French cultural and educational authorities, is offering a four-month residency for a professional journalist as part of its CLEA+ (Local Artistic Education Contract) programme.

🗓 Residency dates:

Immersion week: September 29 – October 3, 2025
Main residency: January 26 – June 12, 2026

📍 Location: Dunkirk, France

📬 Deadline to apply: May 5, 2025 (midnight, Paris time)

🎯 Mission:

The selected journalist will

lead workshops and discussions on media literacy and freedom of expression.

collaborate with educators, social workers, and cultural actors to co-create educational tools.

share and present journalistic works to diverse audiences—from children to seniors.

engage in dialogue about the role of journalism today, while developing new formats and local stories.

Requirements:

  • Professional journalist status (any nationality), with fluency in spoken French.

  • Ability to reside in Dunkirk for the entire mission.

  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

  • A commitment to community engagement and education.

💶 Financial package:

  • Stipend: €12,000 net

  • Housing allowance: €2,600

  • Travel reimbursement: Two round-trips + €300/month local travel
