Alaska Airlines mileage account hacked, customer reports stolen miles

April 26, 2025 — In a LinkedIn post today (or April 25 in the US time zones), Elliot Rosenberg, a travel rewards expert, shared that his Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan account was hacked, resulting in the theft of his accumulated miles.
Rosenberg recounted receiving an email from Alaska Airlines' Revenue Protection team, requesting that he call to verify suspicious activity on his account. Upon logging in, he discovered that a flight had been booked and completed by an unknown passenger, and his miles were missing.
While initially angry and considering filing a police report and posting the ticket buyer’s name on social media, Rosenberg later speculated that the passenger might have unknowingly booked through an agency involved in the hack. Despite contacting Alaska Airlines customer care, Rosenberg reported that he had not yet recovered his stolen miles as of his post.
Rosenberg, who advises others on maximising travel rewards, expressed frustration and sought advice from the community on how to handle the situation and prevent future breaches.
Alaska Airlines has not yet issued a public statement regarding this incident.
Thoughtfox has sent an email to the airlines seeking its reaction to this reported incident.
