Submit before June 01, 2025 for Estonia’s ‘documentary and science’ film festival

Yes, the word is out! Focussing on ‘on indigenous peoples and their disappearing cultures’, the 39th Pärnu Documentary and Science Film Festival will be held through October 5–12, 2025 in Pärnu—Estonia’s fourth-largest city.

Officially referenced as the ‘XXXIX Pärnu Documentary and Science Film Festival’ on its website, the festival will also be televised simultaneously; moreover, accepted submissions will also be screened in other parts of Estonia through October 13-19, 2025. ‘

During the festival,’ according to the website, ‘five outstanding documentaries will be broadcast on Estonian TV’'—and the television audience ‘will vote for the best film to be awarded with the ESTONIAN PEOPLE’S AWARD.’

The submission fees are very low: 10 euros, if you submit by April 1, 2025; 20 euros if you submit after April 2. The final deadline is June 1, 2025.

So, what are you waiting for? Read the submission guidelines on the festival’s website—and finalise your documentaries! The guidelines suggest that this is one of the least restrictive festivals one could hope for!

The festival’s website is this: www.chaplin.ee

On Facebook, you can find the festival here: www.facebook.com/ParnuFF
