February 12, 2025: a (hybrid) talk on Zionism and colonial liberalism at American University of Beirut
The Palestine Land Studies Center (PLSC) and the Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies (CAMES) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) will host a talk on February 12, 2025 (Wednesday) on the topic of ‘Zionism and the restoration of colonial liberalism’.
Featuring Mohammed Fadel (Professor of Law at the University of Toronto) as the main speaker, this hybrid event will be moderated by CAMES Director Sari Hanafi and will include Zeina Jallad (Assistant Professor of International Law at AUB) and Ardi Imseis (Associate Professor of Law at Queen’s University, Canada) as discussants.
A prolific author and well-recognized opinion writer, Hanafi, the event’s moderator, recently published the book Studying Islam in the Arab world: the rupture between religion and the social sciences (Routledge, 2023).
To attend the event physically, one is expected to be present on the 4th floor of AUB’s IFI Seminar Room before 5 PM.
